Compound Words Valid in Scrabble — Two Ideas, One Big Score

Strategy for Compound Words
Think in halves: When you see OUT+WORK, BACK+FIRE, or KEY+WORD potential on your rack, check if the compound form exists. You already know both parts — the compound is just combining them.
Prefix compounds: Learn productive prefixes: OUT- (OUTWORK, OUTPLAY, OUTFOX), OVER- (OVERFLOW, OVERLOOK), BACK- (BACKFIRE, BACKSTOP). Each prefix opens dozens of valid compounds.
Bingo hunting: Most compound words are 7-9 letters — prime bingo territory. When your rack has a recognisable prefix (OUT, OVER, BACK) plus 4-5 other tiles, look for compound completions first.
