It will always be fun — with daily challenges, achievements, and new features landing regularly. It will always be fast — results appear as you type, no page reloads, no waiting. And it will always require no sign-up — jump in and start solving, no account needed, no email required. That's our promise.
Entering Your Tiles
You have two ways to input your rack tiles, and they stay perfectly in sync:
- →Word Solver (text box): Type up to 15 letters directly. Results appear as you type — no need to click anything. Press Enter or click Solve as a fallback if auto-search doesn't fire.
- →Tile Rack (7 boxes): Click individual tile slots to enter one letter per box. The cursor moves right automatically after each letter. Press Backspace to go left. Click Find Words to search.

🔄 Bidirectional Sync
The Word Solver and Tile Rack are linked — type in one, and the other updates instantly:
- →Type "SCRABBLE" in the Word Solver → the first 7 letters fill the Tile Rack boxes automatically
- →Fill the Tile Rack boxes → the Word Solver text field updates to match
- →The Word Solver supports up to 15 letters (for longer searches), while the Tile Rack shows the first 7
✖️ Clear Button
The purple ✖️ button between the Word Solver and the Solve button clears everything in one click:
- →Clears the Word Solver text
- →Clears all 7 Tile Rack boxes
- →Resets the results panel to "Enter at least 2 tiles"
- →Use it to start a fresh search without refreshing the page
🔘 Solve vs Find Words
Both buttons trigger word search, but they work slightly differently:
- →Solve — uses the full Word Solver text (up to 15 letters). Finds all words up to your tile count length.
- →Find Words — reads from the hidden tiles field. If you have more than 7 tiles (via the text solver), it searches the full set. With 7 or fewer, it caps at 7-letter words.
- →Both are fallbacks — the solver normally searches automatically as you type (300ms debounce). Use the buttons if results don't appear.
Using Blank Tiles (?)
Blank tiles are wildcards that can represent any letter. Enter them as a question mark (?) in your rack.
- →You can use up to 2 blanks (matching a real Scrabble set)
- →Words using blanks will show the blank letter in lowercase in results
- →Blank tiles score 0 points, so the solver accounts for this in point totals
Filters & Options
Narrow down results to find exactly the word you need:
- →Dictionary: Switch between SOWPODS (international, 74,000+ words) and TWL (North American tournament list)
- →Sort by: Points (highest first), length, or alphabetical
- →Minimum length: Only show words of a certain length or longer
- →Contains: Only show words containing a specific letter or sequence
- →Starts with: Filter words by their opening letters
- →Ends with: Filter words by their ending letters

How to Use Ask Lex
- →From the Solver: Type your tiles in the solver, then click the Ask Lex button next to Find Words — Lex will analyse your rack and recommend the best word to play with full scoring explanation
- →Direct Chat: Visit /chat/ and type any Scrabble question — strategy, rules, definitions, board positions, or just "what does QOPH mean?"
- →Rack Input: Enter up to 7 tiles in the rack input on the chat page and hit Ask Lex for instant best-word recommendations

Achievements & Memory WordBench
Track your progress and build your personal word bank:
- →Click any word in the results to save it to your 👑 Memory WordBench collection with an auto-fetched definition
- →Memory WordBench persist in your browser and can be backed up to our server via your UUID
- →Review, edit, or delete Memory WordBench from the Memory WordBench panel on the solver page
🏅 Score-Based Achievements
When you click a word in the results, the Tile Scores panel shows your score and awards you an achievement level. There are 5 levels:

The Memory WordBench works like a set of flash cards. As you solve words and save them, each entry gets a definition — creating a personal vocabulary deck you can scroll through anytime to jog your memory.

Track what's left in the bag and plan your moves with probability data.
Setting Up the Tile Bag
Before starting a game, set your Bag and Played values to accurately track remaining tiles:
↑ Values sync with the solver. Set them here or on the solver page — they persist in your browser.
- 1.Bag — set to the number of tiles remaining in the physical bag (starts at 100 in a standard game, decreases as players draw)
- 2.Played — set to the number of tiles already on the board (increases each turn as words are placed)
- 3.Rack — auto-calculated from your current tile input (shows how many tiles you have on your rack)
💡 These values are saved in your browser — they persist between sessions so you can resume tracking mid-game.
What the Tracker Shows
- →How many of each letter remain in the tile bag based on what you've played
- →Click "Draw %" to see probability of drawing specific high-value tiles (Z, Q, X, J)
- →Helps you decide whether to exchange tiles, play defensively, or go for a bingo
Strategy Tips
- →When the bag is low (<10 tiles), you can deduce your opponent's rack by counting played letters
- →If high-value tiles (Q, Z) haven't appeared and the bag is shrinking, play defensively to avoid giving your opponent triple-word access
- →Track S tiles — if all 4 are played, your opponent can't pluralise your words
Rack Leave Analyzer
Not just about the word you play — it's about what you keep. The rack leave analyzer evaluates what tiles remain on your rack after each possible play, helping you:
- →Avoid keeping clunky combinations (QU without a U, too many consonants)
- →Maintain a balanced rack for future turns
- →Maximize your scoring potential over multiple turns, not just this one

Best Opening Moves
When you go first, the solver highlights optimal opening plays that:
- →Cover the center star (double word score)
- →Balance points scored vs. rack leave quality
- →Avoid opening up triple word squares for your opponent

Backup & Restore (User ID)
Your data lives in your browser by default, but you can back it up:
- →Download User ID: Go to Settings and copy or download your anonymous UUID. This is the only key to your saved data.
- →Relink on another device: Paste your UUID into the Restore field on Settings to pull your Memory WordBench and achievements onto a new browser.
- →No email or account needed — your UUID is your identity.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Tool
- ✓Use the "Contains" filter when you see a hook opportunity on the board (e.g., add S to an existing word)
- ✓Check rack leave before committing — a 30-point word with great leave beats a 35-point word with garbage leave
- ✓Learn the 2-letter words — they're essential for parallel plays. Use min length = 2 and max length = 2 to study them
- ✓Save words you didn't know — review them later to build your vocabulary
- ✓Switch dictionaries if you play both casual (SOWPODS) and tournament (TWL) games
🎮 Gameplay Tactics Using the Solver
Beyond finding words, here's how to use the solver strategically during your game:
🪝 Hook Strategy
A "hook" is adding a single letter to an existing word on the board to form a new word. Use the solver to find hooks:
- →Set "Starts with" to the existing word's last letter + your tiles — find words that extend it
- →Use "Ends with" set to the first letter of a word on the board — find words you can place in front
- →The S hook is the most powerful — adding S to almost any noun gives you two words scored simultaneously
📘 Front Hooks vs Back Hooks
Front Hook: A letter placed BEFORE an existing word to make a new word. Example: adding S before COLD makes SCOLD. Or T before RAIN makes TRAIN.
Back Hook: A letter placed AFTER an existing word. Example: adding S after CAT makes CATS. Or H after WIT makes WITH.
Why this matters: Front hooks are rarer and harder to spot — if you can front-hook a word on a premium square, opponents often don't see it coming. Back hooks (especially S, D, R, E) are more common but still score double since you get points for both the new letter AND the perpendicular word you're forming.
🧮 Rack Balance Between Turns
Don't just play the highest-scoring word. Think about what you're leaving on your rack:
- →After solving, look at 2–3 of the top results and check the Rack Leave panel for each
- →Prefer leaves with a mix of vowels and consonants (3V/4C or 4V/3C)
- →Keeping E, R, S, T, or a blank on your rack is almost always good — they combine with anything
- →Avoid leaving duplicate letters (two I's, two O's) — they reduce your flexibility next turn
🎯 Playing High-Value Tiles
Q, Z, X, J are worth 8–10 points each but can clog your rack. Tactics:
- →Use "Contains" filter with Q, Z, X, or J to see all words you can make right now — play them fast, don't hoard
- →Memorize QI (Q without U) — it's often the only way to play Q without wasting a turn
- →ZA, ZO, XI, XU, JO — these 2-letter words let you dump rare tiles on premium squares for big points
- →If you can't play a high-value tile in 2 turns, consider exchanging — the points you lose from a blocked rack cost more
🚀 Bingo Hunting (All 7 Tiles)
Playing all 7 tiles earns a +50 point bonus. Use the solver to hunt for bingos:
- →Enter all 7 tiles in the solver and look for 7-letter results — the Best Opening panel shows these with "bingo!" labels
- →If no 7-letter word exists, try removing one tile (play 6 letters + draw 6 next turn for better bingo chance)
- →Learn the "SATINE" stem — tiles A, E, I, N, S, T form the most bingo combinations with any 7th letter
- →If you have 6 of the SATINE letters, hold them and play your odd letter — next draw often completes a bingo
🛡️ Defensive Play
Sometimes the best move isn't the highest-scoring one — it's the one that blocks your opponent:
- →After solving, check if your top word opens a Triple Word Score for your opponent — if so, pick the next-best word that doesn't
- →Use the "Ends with" filter to find words that close off board lanes without opening premium squares
- →In the endgame, check the Tile Bag probability — if your opponent likely has Q/Z stuck, keep the board tight
📈 Parallel Plays (Double Scoring)
Place a word alongside an existing word so each adjacent pair of letters forms a valid 2-letter word. You score for ALL new words formed:
- →Study the Two-Letter Words panel on the solver — these are your parallel play building blocks
- →A 4-letter parallel play can score 40+ points because you're forming 5 words simultaneously (your word + 4 two-letter cross-words)
- →Use "Contains" to find words with specific letters that create valid parallels against what's on the board
⏱️ Endgame Tactics
When the tile bag is empty and you know your opponent's approximate tiles:
- →Use the Tile Bag tracker — once it shows 0 in bag, you know exactly what your opponent holds
- →If you're ahead: play short, safe words that close the board. Don't give them openings.
- →If you're behind: look for spots where you can play long words on premium squares. Use the solver aggressively.
- →Going out first gives you bonus points (your opponent's remaining tiles are added to your score)

- →Display name: Set a short nickname (max 16 characters) that appears on leaderboards and daily challenge results. If you skip this, a random fun name is assigned automatically.
- →Linked to your UUID: Your avatar and name are stored with your anonymous profile. Relink your UUID on a new device and they restore automatically.
- →Change anytime: Visit Settings to swap your avatar or update your display name whenever you like.
- →Still fully anonymous: Avatars and names are cosmetic — no real identity is ever required or stored.
Your avatar shows up on the Daily Rack leaderboard, Word of the Day feed, and any future multiplayer features.
Data Management — Nuke, Download & Relink
All your data (Memory WordBench, achievements, settings) lives in your browser's localStorage. Here's how to manage it:
📥 Download Your Data
Go to Settings and click Download Backup. This exports all your Memory WordBench, scores, and achievements as a JSON file you can keep safe.
🔗 Relink on Another Device
Your anonymous User ID (UUID) is the key to your data. To access your Memory WordBench on another browser or device:
- Copy your UUID from Settings on your current device
- On the new device, go to Settings → Restore
- Paste your UUID and click Restore — your words and achievements will sync
💣 Nuke localStorage
Need a fresh start? The Nuke button in Settings permanently deletes ALL local data — Memory WordBench, achievements, preferences, and your User ID. This cannot be undone.
⚠️ Always download a backup before nuking. Once gone, there's no way to recover your data without the UUID.
🍪 Cookies & What Happens Without Them
If you prefer not to be tracked, reject all cookies via the 🍪 button (bottom-left corner) or disable cookies in your browser.
Features impacted without cookies:
- ⚠️Memory WordBench won't persist — your collection relies on localStorage linked to your session
- ⚠️Achievements will reset — progress resets on each visit
- ⚠️Theme/settings forgotten — dark mode and preferences reset
- ⚠️Cookie banner reappears — shows on every page load
