Summer Scrabble Words — Hot Plays for Warm Days
Summer brings outdoor Scrabble sessions — patio games, beach towel battles, and garden tournaments. The season's vocabulary is packed with high-value tiles: SIZZLE has double Z (20pts from Z alone), KAYAK doubles the K (10pts), and SCORCH combines C and CH. Here's your summer scoring guide.
SIZZLE
24 points · 6 letters · S(1)+I(1)+Z(10)+Z(10)+L(1)+E(1)
Double Z makes SIZZLE devastating. On a DWS that's 48 points. Like all double-Z words, you'll need a blank for the second Z — but 24 base points from 6 common letters is still exceptional.

Summer Strategy
KAYAK is a palindrome: Reading the same forwards and backwards means you can play it in either direction. Position K on premium squares regardless of board orientation.
BEACH hooks well: BEACHY, BEACHES, BEACHED — the word takes multiple suffixes. Play BEACH first, then extend it later for double scoring opportunities.
QUENCH uses Q+U together: At 20 points, QUENCH is one of the best Q+U words available. The CH ending (7pts combined) adds substantial value to an already strong Q play.
