How Blank Tiles Work in Scrabble
Rule: A blank tile can represent any letter of the alphabet. Once placed, it stays as that letter for the rest of the game.
Scoring: Blank tiles score 0 points regardless of which letter they represent. The trade-off is flexibility for points.
Strategy: Save blanks for bingos (7-letter words = 50pt bonus). A blank used in a bingo earns far more than using it for a short word.
Blank Tile Examples
| Your Rack | With Blank | Best Word Found |

| QU?LI?Y | ? = A, T | QUALITY |
| ??ATING | Two blanks! | SKATING, BOATING, COATING... |
Blank Tile Strategy Tips
Save for bingos: A blank + 6 good tiles can often make a 7-letter word (50-point bonus). Don't waste blanks on 3-4 letter words.
Best with common letters: A blank is most powerful when your other tiles are SATINE, RETINA, or other bingo-friendly stems.
Two blanks = almost guaranteed bingo: With two blanks and 5 reasonable letters, a 7-letter word exists in most cases.
