Fun Food Trivia for Players
🧠 Did You Know?
PIZZA is one of only a handful of common English words using two Z tiles. Since there are only two Z's in the entire bag, playing PIZZA means your opponent can never score with Z again. That's a scoring play AND a strategic denial.
Strategy for Using Food Vocabulary
Hold Z tiles for PIZZA: If you draw one Z early, consider holding it. Drawing the second Z gives you a guaranteed 25-point play. The expected value often outweighs an immediate ZA or ZO.
WAFFLE for rack balance: Double-F words clear awkward tile combos. If stuck with two F's, WAFFLE converts a bad rack into 15 points and restores balance for the next draw.
FAJITA uses J effectively: J is worth 8 points but hard to place. FAJITA uses J in a 6-letter word with common surrounding tiles (A, I, T), making it one of the most reliable J plays available.
Short food words for tight spots: TOFU (7pts), NAAN (4pts), and FIG (7pts) fit into cramped board positions where longer words can't reach. Perfect parallel plays alongside existing words.
