Highest Possible Scrabble Score — Theoretical Maximum
Every Scrabble player has wondered: what's the absolute maximum you could score in a single turn? The answer is OXYPHENBUTAZONE — a 15-letter anti-inflammatory drug name that, when played across two triple-word squares with perfect crossing words, theoretically scores 1,778 points. It'll never happen in a real game, but the math is fascinating.
OXYPHENBUTAZONE
1,778 points · 15 letters · Across two TWS with all crossings
This requires the entire board to be perfectly set up with crossing words in every position. Virtually impossible in real play — but mathematically valid under official rules.

How the Math Works
Triple × Triple = 9×: A word covering two triple-word squares gets multiplied by 3 twice (3×3=9). Even a modest 20-point base word becomes 180 points. This is the key to monster scores.
Crossing words add up: Each new letter placed also scores any perpendicular word it creates. On a packed board with 7 crossings, those bonus words can double or triple the total turn score.
High-value tiles on TLS: Z (10pts) on a triple-letter-square = 30 points from one tile. X (8pts) on TLS = 24. Stack these with word multipliers for explosive scores.
